About Ruthanne Terrero

me on a boatRuthanne Terrero is an expert on the topic of luxury travel. As the Editorial Director of Luxury Travel Advisor and Travel Agent magazines, she gauges the vacation trends of the ultra-affluent consumer by staying in constant touch with her readership of 13,000 sellers of affluent travel. These “luxury travel advisors” provide Terrero with insight on the demands of the “uber wealthy,” who require private villas, top hotel suites and private jet accommodations.

The number of millionaires in this country is tripling every year, a defining sign that the number of affluent travelers in the United States is increasing rapidly. The rich are also getting richer: On the Forbes 2006 “wealthiest” list, millionaires did not rank because the top 10 rankings were filled by billionaires. This ultra-exclusive consumer tends to no longer travel alone or in a small party; instead, they are taking off for far-flung lands with their entourages (private chef, butler, business manager, personal assistant) as well their 20 closest friends and family members to celebrate their 30th birthdays.

In order to keep up with the needs of these unique individuals, Terrero is constantly monitoring the top-shelf luxury travel products available to them. Luxury hotels are constantly amending or expanding their offerings to better suit the needs of these travelers by adding in more suites, additional connecting rooms and higher levels of service.

A native of the New York City area, Terrero graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in Creative Writing. Terrero oversaw the launch of Luxury Travel Advisor in 2005, a publication that focuses solely on luxury hotels and destinations. The widely acclaimed publication was the 2005 Silver Award winner of the prestigious Eddy Awards which are distributed by FOLIO.
